Article last updated 25 May 2023.

This initiative “identifies, recognises, introduces and promotes the rising stars of the private client wealth management world in the UK.” It considers factors such as the reputation or performance of the company the individual works for, feedback from senior executives, trajectory of promotion and active involvement in promoting good organisational culture.

Sophie joined Greenbank in 2020 as a senior ethical, sustainable and impact researcher and quickly progressed to become Greenbank’s stewardship and engagement lead.  She is responsible for the delivery of key engagement projects, building relationships with external partner organisations, and shaping Greenbank’s engagement strategy, priorities and reporting.

Sophie was recognised by the judges for her instrumental role in the development of Greenbank’s net zero strategy, and for spearheading the creation of the Investor Coalition on Food Policy - a group of 23 investors representing over £6 trillion in AUM. Through this engagement, investors now have a seat at the table as part of the Government’s Food Data Transparency Partnership, an initiative which aims to improve the availability, accessibility, and policy-use of data on key health, animal welfare and sustainability metrics. Sophie was also commended for coordinating and chairing three Greenbank Investor Days, our annual conference for investors and intermediaries.

Sustainability update February 2025

2025 has so far seen a significant shift in the political backdrop for ESG and sustainable investing. While some financial institutions pull back from climate initiatives amid increasing political opposition, a rollback on DEI programmes emphasises the need for diversity, equity and inclusion to evolve beyond good intentions. The UK and US have refused to sign a declaration on “inclusive and sustainable” artificial intelligence (AI) following the landmark AI Safety Summit, and the EU’s Omnibus proposal to reduce the scope of regional sustainability reporting has been criticised as a deregulation setback.
