From litter picking to sports days, the Greenbank team has been busy volunteering and fundraising for great causes. Here is a snapshot of our recent activities.

Queen Square litter picking event for Volunteers’ Week 2023

Greenbank team members Charlie Young, Laura Hobbs, Ellis Burden, Kai Johns, Rory Bodycombe and Sophie Lawrence enjoyed taking part in a Queen Square litter picking event in Bristol to celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2023.

Every year, hundreds of events (both online and in-person) take place to celebrate Volunteers’ Week and the wide range of ways in which volunteers give their time.

Bristol office charity Sports Day

Rathbone Greenbank and Rathbones colleagues enjoyed an evening of sports and games on Queen Square in Bristol for a charity Sports Day.

With match funding from Rathbones, the team raised a total of £413 for Cancer Research UK.

Celebrating Pride Month

To celebrate Pride Month, Bristol office team members took part in a colourful ‘wear the rainbow’ office day and held a bakesale, raising £130 for Bristol Pride.

Continuing partnership with FareShare South West

In addition to the above activities, we have continued our regular employee volunteering with FareShare South West as part of our three-year partnership alongside Rathbones Group.

FareShare South West is the region’s largest food redistribution charity which works to fight hunger in the South West through tackling food waste. Greenbank, as part of The Rathbones Foundation, has supported various initiatives including their employability programme, FareChance, and the Big Give Christmas Challenge. Members of our team have also enjoyed regular volunteering sessions at their warehouse.

Sustainability update February 2025

2025 has so far seen a significant shift in the political backdrop for ESG and sustainable investing. While some financial institutions pull back from climate initiatives amid increasing political opposition, a rollback on DEI programmes emphasises the need for diversity, equity and inclusion to evolve beyond good intentions. The UK and US have refused to sign a declaration on “inclusive and sustainable” artificial intelligence (AI) following the landmark AI Safety Summit, and the EU’s Omnibus proposal to reduce the scope of regional sustainability reporting has been criticised as a deregulation setback.
